Bangladesh historic test win against New Zealand broke some amazing records

Bangladesh have magnificently registered a 8 wicket victory over the hosts New Zealand in the first test, which was played from 1 January,2022 to 5 January,2022 at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. With this finest win, Bangladesh have broken the undefeated streak of 17 at home for the World Test Champions.

Bangladesh were always ahead in the game, as they managed to bowl out Black Caps for 328 runs in first innings of the game and then taking a humongous lead of 130 runs. The hosts were never in the game during the second innings, as merely two players managed to stay strong at crease – Will Young 69 runs and Ross Taylor 40 runs.

After dismissing Ross Taylor’s defense, the hosts castle went down from 154/6 to 169/10. The visitors had a target of 40 runs in front of their eyes to create a history on the New Zealand soil. They chased down the target within 17 overs with the loss of two wickets to give the people of Bangladesh, a moment to cherish for lifetime.

This win is earned by Bangladesh team and not by any individual performer, they have collectively stepped up during the different stages of match, whether it was scoring a huge total of 458 in 1st innings or bowling out the Black Caps in both the innings for low totals.

  3. The victory margin of 8 wickets is also the highest margin for Bangladesh in a away test win, previous best was 4 wickets win over West Indies and Sri Lanka.
  4. Bangladesh has not merely made their country proud but Asian continent too, they are the first Asian team to beat New Zealand in test match in their backyard over a last decade.
  5. The undefeated streak of 17 test wins for Black caps at home soil has been ceased by The Tigers. Moreover, their consecutive 8 home test series win is also shattered as this series consists of 2 matches and Bangladesh are already 1-0.
  6. This was also the second highest innings score by a team in New Zealand {458/10} since 2015, with first also been held by Bangladesh Cricket team {598/8, back in 2017}.
  7. Ebadot Hossain registered his career best figures of 6-46, which paved the way for Bangladesh victory.
