Remember Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s blistering century from IPL 2025? He smashed the second-fastest hundred in IPL history, reaching the milestone in just 35 balls with 11 sixes. But now, a young batter aspiring to be like Suryakumar Yadav has gone a step ahead—scoring a century even faster than Suryavanshi and matching a decade-old record set by Chris Gayle.
Abhishek Pathak Surpasses Suryavanshi’s Feat
The player in the spotlight is Abhishek Pathak. Playing in the MPL 2025 (Madhya Pradesh Premier League), Abhishek hammered a century in just 33 balls, overtaking Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s record. It was the second-fastest hundred in MPL history. His whirlwind innings lasted 48 balls, during which he smashed 15 sixes and 7 fours, scoring 133 runs at a strike rate of 277.1.
Equals Chris Gayle’s 10-Year-Old Record
In addition to surpassing Suryavanshi, Abhishek also equaled Chris Gayle’s record of 15 sixes in an innings. Gayle had achieved this feat back in 2015 while playing for Somerset against Kent in England’s domestic T20 league. Abhishek matched that legendary power-hitting performance, making headlines in the Indian domestic circuit.
