The 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, the 13th edition, will be hosted solely by India from October 5 to November 19, 2023. It’s a significant milestone for India, which previously co-hosted the tournament. Ten teams will compete in a round-robin league format, just like in the 2019 World Cup, with matches taking place in various Indian cities. The semi-finals will be in Mumbai and Kolkata, while the final will be held in Ahmedabad. The matches will be played in the 50-over format.
Legendary Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath has predicted the top four teams for the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. According to him, Australia, India, England, and Pakistan are likely to make it to the semi-finals. He expressed confidence in Australia’s performance, praised India’s home advantage, acknowledged England’s strong cricket, and lauded Pakistan’s fine form.
Additionally, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who has been out of action since September 2022 due to a back injury, is expected to make a comeback for the tournament. McGrath commended Bumrah’s skills in Indian conditions, stating that succeeding in India would mean succeeding anywhere in the world.
“India is probably the toughest place to be a fast bowler. Pitches are not that juicy here. But now young (seam) bowlers are coming from India, whom probably we haven’t seen before. It’s because fast bowling here wasn’t as focused as it is now. If you succeed here, you can succeed anywhere in the world as a fast bowler,” McGrath said.
