In a stunning performance on Day 1 of the first Test in Nagpur, India’s spin duo Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja bowled out Australia for just 177 runs.
The spin twins dominated the pitch with Ashwin snagging three wickets, including his 450th Test scalp, and Jadeja taking a five-wicket haul, including the prized scalps of Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne.
The Australian batters were no match for the Indian spin attack, with only Labuschagne scoring 49 runs and Smith, Carey, and Handscomb chipping in the 30s. The rest of the Aussies were sent packing for single-digit scores.
Just few days ago, Steve Smith confidently stated that Australia had the tools to counter Ashwin’s bowling, but the Indian spin master proved otherwise, achieving the milestone of 450 Test wickets in just 89 Tests.
Meanwhile, Jadeja continued to be a thorn in the side of the Australian team, adding five more wickets to his already impressive tally of 68 wickets in just 13 Tests against the Aussies.
Indian fans were elated with the performance of the Ravi spin twins, who collectively took 8 wickets, while the onus is now on Rohit Sharma and team to gain a decent lead in the first innings.
