After India’s five-wicket victory over Australia in the first ODI, former Indian cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra has expressed his opinion on the Indian team’s playing XI for the second ODI, which is set to be held in Visakhapatnam on March 19. Chopra believes that Umran Malik should be included in the playing XI in place of Shardul Thakur.
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Chopra stated that India should play five specialist bowlers, which would allow them to not worry about the batting at No. 8. He suggested that Malik, who didn’t play in the first ODI, should replace Thakur in the team for the upcoming match.
While acknowledging that India might want a batter at No. 8, Chopra emphasized that a good bowler could still escape with 55-60 runs in 10 overs, even when others are conceding 80. Chopra also added that he would be okay if the Indian team decides to stick with Thakur for the second ODI.

Chopra also spoke about the Australian team, expressing his uncertainty about David Warner’s availability for the second ODI, given the short break between the two games. However, he expects Steve Smith and Co. to come back strong and possibly win the match to level the series.
As fans await the announcement of the Indian team’s playing XI for the second ODI, it remains to be seen whether Chopra’s suggestion of including Malik over Thakur will be taken into account.
