IND vs AUS 2nd Test: Rahul Dravid shuts down journalist’s question on India’s lack of left-arm pacers with a savage reply

Dravid cited the examples of Indian bowlers Zaheer Khan and Arshdeep Singh, and shut down the journalist by saying that in India, finding someone as tall as 6ft 5 and who bowls left hand fast is rare.

Dravid’s sharp response to Starc and Shaheen’s question on India’s shortage of quality left-hand pacers has caught the attention of the cricketing world.

India’s head coach, who is currently leading the team in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, shut down the journalist’s question by pointing out that India has talented left-arm pacers like Zaheer Khan and Arshdeep Singh.

When the journalist brought up how these bowlers have been exceptional against Indian batters, Rahul Dravid sarcastically responded, “If you have a 6ft 4” bowler, then tell me. You mentioned Mitchell Starc and Shaheen Afridi, but in India, we rarely find someone who is as tall as 6ft 5” who bowls left-hand fast.”

The coach’s savage reply left many in the press conference chuckling and drew praise from cricket fans for his wit and calm demeanour. As India looks to take a 2-0 lead in the second Test in Delhi, Dravid’s confidence in the team’s abilities, including its bowling attack, has only grown stronger.
