India Runs Over England in the 1st ODI following Bumrah’s Exceptional Bowling

Team India destroyed the English batting line-up with the help of the bowling duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami. Bumrah was lethal with his deliveries and picked up 6 wickets for just 19 runs in 7.2 overs. He bowled three maiden overs while Shami dismissed 3 batters for 31 runs in 7 overs. Prasidh Krishna also took one wicket in the match that was over in just four hours.

Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to field. He announced that Virat Kohli had missed out on the game due to a groin injury, and Shreyas Iyer was going to bat three for India. England had a harrowing start to their inning, from which they never recovered in the match.

Jason Roy went back for a five-ball duck. Jonny Bairstow struggled hard to score 7 runs in 20 balls. Joe Root was sent back into the dressing room for a duck off two balls. Bumrah was the one to dismiss the top three of the English batting line-up.

Number four in the batting order, Ben Stokes, was sent back for a golden duck by Mohammed Shami. Jos Buttler was the only batter to show some resistance. Shami picked the wicket of Buttler as well to extinguish the hopes of English fans.

Mohammed Shami accomplished a unique feat in the match by becoming the fastest Indian bowler to 150 ODI wickets. He just took 80 ODIs to achieve the milestone and break the record on former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan.

England could only score 110/10 in 25.2 overs. The small target set by England was made a mockery by the duo of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. India won the match by 10 wickets and 31.2 overs to spare. Sharma was in a hurry to finish the match as he smashed an unbeaten 76* off 48 to help India gain the lead in the series.
