The festival of India, IPL 2022 is due to begin in the last week of March. As per reports, the tentative dates are 26th & 27th March are the preferable dates for the start of the cricket tournament.

IPL is back in its home country – India. It’s a treat for its fans to rejoice in the ultimate experience of IPL. However, covid crises are still a major concern for BCCI. To shrink the spread of covid among the players and minimize air travel, the IPL governing council has decided to conduct the IPL matches only in 2 cities Mumbai and Pune.

The decision has been taken into consideration after the previous year’s edition, where 4 different states were selected as Venues that required teams to air travel from one city to another. This also emerged as a major reason for the disruption of IPL midway in the last edition, since a plethora of players caught the infection while traveling from one city to another.

A total of 70 league games of IPL will be played across 4 venues in the period of 2 months. The venues that have been shortlisted are as follows- Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium & DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai for 55 IPL matches. Whereas, a total of 15 IPL matches will be played at MCA International Stadium in Pune.

Moreover, every IPL team will play 14 matches in the league. Out of which, 4 games each are to be played at Wankhede & DY Patil Stadium, whereas 3 games each will be played at Brabourne & MCA Stadium. The teams will be divided into two groups of 5 teams each for the tournament.

We all are excited for India’s Cricket Festival to return in action, however, there will be no spectators allowed in any IPL game in the stadium. With 10 teams competing for the IPL trophy, there are high chances for double entertainment and thriller matches.

Who do you think will lift this year’s trophy? Will there be a new champion after the introduction of 2 new teams or Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings will continue to dominate the other franchises? Let us know in the comments about your view.
