MS Dhoni’s return to Chepauk Stadium for their IPL 2023 game against Rajasthan Royals created a frenzied atmosphere as fans turned out in droves to watch their adopted son play. Even in the practice session, Dhoni had a large crowd turn out to watch him, where he smashed two sixes to the delight of the fans.
Devon Conway, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter, and all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius shared their experience of watching MS Dhoni bat at Chepauk Stadium. In a video posted on CSK’s official Twitter account, Conway said that it was an incredible experience to watch Dhoni bat live. He remarked, “It was special to see MS walk out of the Chepauk stadium. You hear a lot of stories about the crowd going crazy when he walks out to bat. And experiencing that yesterday firsthand, being there was special. It was so loud that I literally couldn’t hear myself.”
Conway added that not many players in the world could execute their first ball with a six and hit an even bigger six on their second ball, as Dhoni did during his practice session. Conway’s sentiments were echoed by Pretorius, who hailed Dhoni as one of the best finishers in the game. He praised Dhoni’s ability to perform even at his age and under immense pressure.
MS Dhoni is an iconic cricketer who has won multiple trophies for his country and IPL team. He has led CSK to three IPL titles and is known for his calm demeanor and ability to win matches from precarious situations. With his return to the Chepauk Stadium, Dhoni will hope to inspire CSK to victory against the Rajasthan Royals in their upcoming match on April 12. The Royals have already won two games, and with CSK sitting in fifth place, Dhoni will need to bring his A-game to the field to secure a win and help move his team up the table.
