Devon Conway, the star opener from New Zealand who batted brilliantly as an opener for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023, may miss most of the season for his franchise this year. Not just Devon, other Kiwi players like Glenn Phillips, Kane Williamson and Finn Allen may also miss the IPL 2023.

Why Devon Conway May Miss IPL 2023 for CSK?

New Zealand has a series scheduled against Pakistan from 13th April 2023. They will play both T20s and ODIs against Pakistan, and the two series will take about an entire month to be covered. If the New Zealand cricket board decides to select the main players like Devon Conway and Kane Williamson, then they may have to miss out on the IPL 2023 for their respective franchises.

Traditionally, the Kiwi cricket board has allowed its players to play the IPL despite the national series against other cricketing nations. Trent Boult recently lost his central contract as he wishes to play more league cricket than international fixtures. He is not going to miss any matches in IPL, irrespective of the decision that the Kiwi cricket board makes.
