The star Mumbai Indians pacer Jhye Richardson was ruled out of the tournament due to an injury. He also missed the ODI series against India due to that injury. Recently, he underwent a surgery and revealed to his fans that he is on the road to recovery.
Richardson is expected to get fully fit before the ODI World Cup 2023. However, he will miss the complete Indian Premier League 2023 which puts Mumbai Indians in a tough position as they have already lost Jasprit Bumrah to an injury this year.

Mumbai Indians is in the process for finding out a replacement for Jhye Richardson and currently the name that pops up ahead of everyone in the replacement list is Wayne Parnell. The South African bowling all-rounder Wayne Parnell went unsold in the auction.
Parnell’s name was called up four times in the auction but no team decided to bid for him. He is in a sublime form with both ball and bat and recently delivered a fine performance in SA20 League.
