As the IPL 2023 draws closer, Sunrisers Hyderabad has named Aiden Markram as their captain, a decision that has received mixed reactions from fans and experts alike. However, as an overseas player captains the team, the franchise needs a strong Indian vice-captain to provide support and leadership on and off the field.
Here are the top three candidates for the vice-captaincy role for SRH in the upcoming IPL season:
1) Mayank Agarwal
The seasoned IPL player was bought by SRH for a whopping ₹8.25 Crore in the 2023 IPL Auction after he was released by Punjab Kings. Having previously captained Punjab Kings in IPL 2022, Agarwal has the experience and leadership skills required to support Markram as the team’s vice-captain.

2) Rahul Tripathi
The swashbuckling batter was one of SRH’s best performers last season and is a key player for the team’s success. The young all-rounder is highly regarded in the cricketing world for his cricketing intelligence and calm demeanor. With captaincy experience in the Tamil Nadu Premier League and having vice-captained the Tamil Nadu team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Sundar is a future captaincy option for SRH and would be an excellent choice as the team’s vice-captain.
