In IPL 2025, a doubleheader (two matches in one day) was played on Sunday. After the doubleheader, the race for the Orange Cap and Purple Cap has become very exciting. There has been a major shake-up in the Orange Cap race. Gujarat Titans’ young opening batsman Sai Sudharsan has once again taken control of the Orange Cap. He scored a century against Delhi Capitals.
At Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Sudharsan scored an unbeaten 108 runs off 61 balls, including 12 fours and 4 sixes. He has scored 617 runs in 12 matches this season, the highest so far. Sudharsan has dethroned Rajasthan Royals’ Yashasvi Jaiswal, who had taken the Orange Cap from Suryakumar Yadav by scoring a fifty off 25 balls against Punjab Kings.
Yashasvi held the cap for only a few hours. He has now dropped to third place in the list of highest run-scorers. He has scored 523 runs in 13 matches. Mumbai Indians’ Suryakumar Yadav is in fourth place with 510 runs from 12 matches. Royal Challengers Bangalore’s star batsman Virat Kohli is fifth with 505 runs in 11 matches.
Meanwhile, Gujarat captain Shubman Gill has moved up to second place. He has scored 601 runs in 12 matches. Gill played an unbeaten 93 off 53 balls against Delhi Capitals, hitting 3 fours and 7 sixes. Delhi’s century-maker KL Rahul (112* off 65 balls) has slipped to seventh place, scoring 493 runs in 11 matches.

There have also been changes in the Purple Cap race. Gujarat Titans’ spinner Sai Kishore has moved up two spots to eighth place. He has taken 15 wickets in 12 matches so far. In the match against Delhi, he picked up one wicket but was expensive, conceding 47 runs in four overs.
Gujarat’s fast bowler Mohammed Siraj dropped one place to ninth. He went wicketless while conceding 37 runs in four overs and has taken 15 wickets in 12 matches. Kolkata Knight Riders’ Harshit Rana slipped to tenth place with 15 wickets in 12 matches as well. Currently, Gujarat pacer Prasidh Krishna leads the Purple Cap list with 21 wickets in 12 matches. In the recent game against Delhi, he gave away 40 runs and took one wicket.
