The Board of Cricket Council of India (BCCI) has announced that the star pacer Jasprit Bumrah is going to miss the ODI series against Sri Lanka, and he will be available for the selection against New Zealand in the ODI series. Earlier, BCCI added Bumrah to the Indian squad against Sri Lanka for ODIs by citing the reason that he has completely recovered from his injury.
However, BCCI has now rolled back on its decision to add Bumrah to the squad against Sri Lanka in ODIs. He will not be rested for the full series and not be rushed, as he is the premier fast bowler for India in all three formats. The ODI series against Sri Lanka will begin on 10th January 2023.
In the official media release on 3rd January 2023, the BCCI said, “The All-India Senior Selection Committee has included pacer Jasprit Bumrah in India’s ODI squad for the upcoming Mastercard 3-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. The pacer has undergone rehabilitation and has been declared fit by the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He will be joining the Team India ODI squad soon.”
However, BCCI has now announced that Jasprit Bumrah will continue practising at NCA to get more fit and agile before he steps foot on the crease. Bumrah is out of the action since September 2022. He missed the T20 World Cup 2022.
Here is the Indian squad against Sri Lanka after Jasprit Bumrah’s exclusion:
