Jofra Archer Left IPL 2023 Due to an Elbow Injury- Know When Will He Return

Jofra Archer Left IPL 2023 for a Minor Surgery

Jofra Archer has been dealing with elbow injury for over two years now. He has missed a lot of cricket for his nation and various franchises in the T20 Leagues around the world. Archer made a comeback after the successful surgery and played the SA20 League. He then joined the Mumbai Indians squad and played a few matches for them before captain Rohit Sharma cited that Archer is missing a few matches due to a slight niggle and precautionary measures.

Archer had a “minor procedure” in his right elbow during his recent layoff during the IPL, according to The Telegraph on Tuesday night. The same elbow has given him trouble over the last two years, with an initial stress fracture ruling him out of the English summer, T20 World Cup, and Ashes in 2021. He went to Belgium to get a minor surgery done.

On Wednesday morning, the ECB confirmed to ESPNcricinfo that Archer had seen his specialist in Belgium “a few weeks ago.” He has since returned to the Mumbai Indians’ XI in the IPL and is expected to play again this weekend against Rajasthan Royals.

The ECB is still hopeful that Archer will be able to participate in this summer’s Ashes series, which begins on June 16 at Edgbaston. He hasn’t played a first-class match in nearly two years, so he’s unlikely to be match-fit for the first Test, but he could be a factor later in the series.
