West-Indian all-rounder Kieron Pollard, known for his power-hitting and funny antics on the field has retired with immediate effect from the International cricket.

He took to Instagram to announce his retirement and said, “Hi all, after careful deliberation, I have decided to retire from international cricket. Pollard was the current captain for the West Indies in both shorter formats of the games. Currently, he is representing Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022.

He played a total of 123 One Day Internationals and 101 T20is. He was one of the few cricketers in the world who has played 100 matches in both shorter formats of the game. Kieron Pollard stayed away from the longest format of the game and denied any interest whatsoever in Test cricket during his journey as a cricketer.

Pollard debuted for the West Indies in 2007 and played his last series against India just before the Tata IPL 2022. West Indian legend announced his retirement from India, a country that has become his second home after so many years of representing Mumbai Indians in IPL history.

Pollard was a feared hitter who could deposit the ball in the stands with ease. People from the cricketing fraternity have described his hitting ability as freakish. He loved to hit the ball straight over the bowler’s head for a six. In international cricket, he made 2,706 runs in ODIs at an average of 26 while contributing 1569 runs in T20is. He has also dismissed 55 batters in ODIs and 44 in T20is.

Pollard was a member of the T20i World Cup-winning West Indian team in 2012. His greatest memory from the international cricket would be his 6 consecutive sixes against Akila Dananjaya in a T20i in 2021.
