Former Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria is calling out his home country for their lack of squad rotation and opportunities for fresh faces.
In a recent video on his YouTube channel, he compared Pakistan’s bench strength to that of India. He praised the Men in Blue for grooming players like Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul as backups for the upcoming ODI World Cup.
He pointed out that while India is preparing for the possibility of Rishabh Pant’s absence with quality backups ready, Pakistan is not giving adequate opportunities to players like Mohammad Haris.
He emphasized that “favoritism won’t help you build a team for the World Cup” and urged Pakistan’s team selection to take note of India’s approach.
Danish Kaneria said, “India knows that Rishabh Pant may not be available for the World Cup and so they’re grooming Ishan Kishan as a backup for KL Rahul as wicketkeeper. But what are we doing? We are only featuring Rizwan and not giving any exposure to Mohammad Haris. Favoritism won’t help you build a team for the World Cup.”
