On Wednesday, March 5, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) will face the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the eighth match of the Indian Premier League 2023 at Guwahati’s Barsapara Cricket Stadium. Rajasthan, last season’s runner-up, began their season with a commanding 72-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad. When batting first, Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler, and Yashasvi Jaiswal all got rapid fifties to help the Royals to a 203/5 total. The Sunrisers were then reduced to 131/8 after Yuzvendra Chahal got four wickets and Trent Boult captured two key wickets.
Punjab Kings began their IPL 2023 campaign with a key home win over Kolkata Knight Riders. Bhanuka Rajapaksa of Sri Lanka hit 50 off 32 balls, while skipper Shikhar Dhawan added 40 off 29 as the Kings recorded a total of 191/5. The Knight Riders chased well and scored 146/7, but rain delayed play and they fell seven runs short of the goal using the DLS system.
