    In a historic feat, Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma etched his name in the annals of Asia Cup history. Rohit Sharma has become the first Indian player to register an impressive tally of 10 fifty-plus scores in this prestigious tournament. What’s more, he clinched a couple of additional records with his spectacular unbeaten innings.

    Rohit Sharma accomplished this remarkable milestone during India’s encounter with Nepal in the Asia Cup 2023 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele. After a challenging outing against Pakistan, Rohit Sharma displayed his class in the second game, orchestrating a magnificent half-century to guide his team to victory.

    Leading from the front, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma showcased a stellar performance, amassing an unbeaten 74 runs from 59 balls. His batting prowess was evident with a striking strike rate of 125.52, complemented by 6 boundaries and 5 towering sixes in his innings. Furthermore, Rohit Sharma formed a formidable partnership of 147 runs with Shubman Gill (67), steering India to an emphatic 10-wicket triumph and securing a coveted spot in the Super 4 stage of the tournament.

    In addition to this milestone, Rohit Sharma has surpassed his teammate Virat Kohli as the highest run-scorer among Indian players in Asia Cup history, eclipsing the previous record of 1046 runs. The Indian skipper further ascended the ranks, overtaking the legendary Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara’s record of 1075 runs, now standing as the tournament’s second-highest run-scorer.

    Currently, only Sanath Jayasuriya remains ahead of Rohit Sharma in this prestigious list. Moreover, Rohit Sharma has also achieved the remarkable feat of hitting 250 sixes in One Day International (ODI) cricket, placing him in an exclusive ODI club alongside the likes of Sanath Jayasuriya and Chris Gayle.
