Saim Ayub Pakistan Super League Career

In 2021, Saim Ayub’s stint with the Quetta Gladiators in the PSL didn’t meet expectations, leading to his exclusion from the regular playing XI and subsequent omission from the squad for the following season. However, his fortunes changed in February 2023 when he represented Peshawar Zalmi in the 2023 PSL. Ayub showcased his potential with a maiden PSL half-century off just 33 deliveries, drawing comparisons to the legendary Saeed Anwar.

Throughout the season, Ayub consistently contributed to Peshawar Zalmi’s success alongside Babar Azam. Notably, in a crucial match against the Quetta Gladiators, Ayub’s explosive innings of 74 off 34 deliveries propelled Peshawar Zalmi to a formidable total of 240/2 in 20 overs. His blistering form continued as he hammered a quickfire 58 off 33 balls in another encounter. By the end of the season, Ayub had amassed 341 runs at an average of 28.41 and an impressive strike rate of 165.53 across 12 matches.

Ayub’s stellar performances weren’t confined to the PSL alone, as he also made significant contributions in the CPL 2023 season.
