The 19th match of the 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be played between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. The home team SRH will be desperate to get back to winning ways after a disappointing run in the tournament so far.
SRH has faced a tough time recently, losing consecutive matches and struggling to find momentum. Although they’ve won four of their last five matches at this venue, they have suffered three consecutive defeats in the current season. Under the leadership of Pat Cummins, SRH will aim to take advantage of home conditions and fan support to turn things around.
The top-order failures and inconsistent bowling have troubled Hyderabad. The pitch, however, offers them a golden opportunity to bounce back. On the other hand, Gujarat Titans come into this game with momentum, having registered an eight-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bangalore. Led by Shubman Gill, GT will be eyeing a third straight win but will face a tough challenge against SRH’s powerful batting lineup on one of the best batting tracks in the league.
SRH has a strong batting lineup, but the lack of consistency has hurt them. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma are yet to find form, while Ishan Kishan’s strike rate has been below par. Heinrich Klaasen has been a bright spot and, along with Nitish Kumar Reddy and Kamindu Mendis, will play a crucial role in the middle overs. Pat Cummins and Aniket Verma will add depth to the lower order.
On the bowling front, SRH has struggled. Mohammed Shami and Cummins haven’t provided early breakthroughs, and the spin attack led by Zeeshan Ansari and Mendis has lacked bite. Harshal Patel and Simarjeet Singh will need to step up, especially on a pitch that offers little help to pacers.

GT’s top order has been in good shape, with Jos Buttler’s explosive 73 and Sai Sudharsan’s consistency adding stability. With Shubman Gill, Sherfane Rutherford, and Shahrukh Khan in the middle order, GT has enough firepower. However, their bowling remains a concern. With Kagiso Rabada unavailable, Mohammed Siraj and Arshad Khan will lead the new ball attack, while Rashid Khan’s poor form is a worry. Sai Kishore and Prasidh Krishna will be key in controlling the run flow during the middle overs.
The pitch at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium is expected to be a batting paradise. Over the last two seasons, the average first innings score has been over 200. Spinners might get some help in the second half of the game. The weather is expected to be clear with no threat of rain.
With no dew expected, both captains might prefer to bat first and post a big total. Chasing under lights has proved to be tricky on this ground, especially when spin comes into play in the final overs.
In head-to-head encounters, Gujarat has won two out of three matches against SRH, with one game yielding no result. However, SRH has a strong home record and the surface suits their batting style, making them slight favourites going into the clash.
