  • 3 Indian Players Who May Not Get a Chance to Play Even in the Third ODI against Sri Lanka

3 Indian Players Who May Not Get a Chance to Play Even in the Third ODI against Sri Lanka

The 3 match ODI series between Sri Lanka and India is being played in Colombo. So far 2 matches have been played in this series, in which the host team has taken a 1-0 lead. Now the Indian team will be eyeing to win the last ODI at any cost and end the series on a draw. However, for this it is necessary to select a strong playing 11.

3 Indian Players Who May Not Get a Chance to Play Even in the Third ODI against Sri Lanka

In the first two matches of the ODI series, the Indian bowlers performed brilliantly and restricted the Sri Lankan team to a score of 230/8 and 240/9 respectively. But among the Indian batsmen, apart from Rohit Sharma and Axar Patel, no one else could perform well, due to which the first match was tied and the second match was lost.

Due to the continuous poor performance, the demand for change in the Indian playing 11 is also increasing. So, there may be one or two changes. There are still some players in Team India’s squad, who have not got a chance to play even a single ODI in the series. In this article, we will see 3 players, who may not get a chance in Team India’s playing 11 against Sri Lanka.

    1. Riyan Parag

Riyan Parag was selected in Team India for the first time to play the T20 series on the Zimbabwe tour. After this, he was included in the T20 and ODI team on the Sri Lanka tour. Parag got a chance to play in all three T20 matches but he could not make it to the playing 11 for the ODI matches. In his place, the team showed confidence in the same players who have played earlier. In such a situation, there is little hope that Parag will be played in the third ODI as well.

    2. Harshit Rana

After making a splash for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2024, Delhi’s young fast bowler Harshit Rana got a place in the Indian team for the first two T20 matches on the Zimbabwe tour. However, he did not get a chance to play a single match on that tour. After this, he was also selected in the Indian ODI team for the first time for the Sri Lanka ODI series, but he could not make it to the playing 11 in the first two matches. In the final ODI, the Indian team will go with the aim of winning at any cost and will probably not want to put pressure on any player who has not yet made his debut. For this reason, there is little hope of Harshit playing.

    3. Khaleel Ahmed

Indian fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed was selected in the team for the T20 series and ODI series on the Sri Lanka tour. Although he got a chance to play in the T20 series, he did not manage to make it to the playing 11 in the two ODIs played so far. India has so far played with only two main fast bowlers in the form of Arshdeep Singh and Mohammad Siraj. The same story can be seen in the final match as well and Khalil may have to remain out.

India vs Sri Lanka 1st ODI Match Tied: Why there was no super over? Know What the ICC Rule Says!

After whitewashing Sri Lanka in the T20 series, Team India came out with the hope of starting the ODI series with a win. But Sri Lanka showed its attitude in the first ODI itself. The match proved to be a tie, after which the fans were waiting for the super over. But why the super over did not happen, this question must be troubling the fans. Let’s know here, why the super over did not happen? The important reason behind this is explained in detail in the article below.

    What happened in the match?

In the match, Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat first. Pathum Nissanka (56) and Dunith Wellalage (67*) scored half centuries for the host team and took the team to a score of 230. The road to victory seemed easy for Team India. Rohit Sharma also set the mood for victory. He gave the team a strong start by scoring 58 runs with the help of 3 sixes and 7 fours.

How did the match end in a tie?

Chasing the target of 231 runs, Team India had taken hold of the match from the beginning. But when batsmen like Virat, Gill and Iyer lost their wickets cheaply. In the end, Rahul and Akshar once again made the match. But after both of them were out, Team India once again got into trouble. Shivam Dubey, who came to the crease, brought life to the match with his fiery batting and in the 48th over, India needed just 1 run to win. But captain Aslanka took two wickets in two balls and made Team India struggle to score a run. Team India was all out on a score of 230.

The excitement of T20I is now over and the Indian team is going to play a 3 match ODI series against Sri Lanka on its next mission. India’s performance in the T20 series was excellent and the team made a clean sweep. They would like to continue this momentum. IND vs SL: This will be India's Playing 11 in the First ODI against Sri Lanka; Rana and Parag Can Make Their Debut

This will be India’s first 50-over game since December and it will be the first time that many players like Shubman Gill, Mohammed Siraj, Virat and Rohit will take the field in an ODI after losing the 2023 Cricket World Cup final to Australia. Apart from these, many young stars have also been given a chance who would like to play with the senior players.

There will be a problem regarding the number six batter

Rohit and Gill are ready to start batting again. With Hardik Pandya’s absence, a big question has arisen in front of India for the number six position and he can use this opportunity to give a chance to Rishabh Pant. There is also a possibility that Riyan Parag will make his ODI debut after a brilliant performance in the T20 series. Shivam Dubey is also a contender, but this role will not only suit Parag’s batting style, but will also give India a sixth bowling option. In such a situation, if it happens that either Rishabh Pant or KL Rahul will be played at number five.

This could be the bowling attack

In the absence of Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel will play at number seven. Although Jasprit Bumrah is not playing, India has a good pair of fast bowlers in the form of Arshdeep Singh and Mohammad Siraj. At the same time, Kuldeep Yadav’s place is confirmed as a spinner. This leaves one place vacant, which can be given to Washington Sundar. The team has no shortage of bowling options and can include Harshit Rana or Khalel Ahmed in place of Sundar, this will give the team a third fast bowling option.
