The Sydney Thunder continued their winning streak over the Brisbane Heat with an 11-run victory in the 19th game of the Big Bash League.

James Bazley’s 4 for 22 and Colin Munro’s 53-ball 98 were not enough as Sydney Thunder beat Brisbane Heat by 11 runs in the 19th BBL Match. Thunder posted 182/6 after being asked to bat first and then held the Heat to 171/9 to secure their double victory against them.

Jimmy Peirson, skipper of the Brisbane Heat won the toss and elected to field against the Sydney Thunder at Carrara Oval, Carrara.

Sydney Thunder vs Brisbane Heat Match Highlights

When asked to bat first, the Thunder showed a commendable effort with the bat. They struggled early on against the new ball, losing Hales relatively early, but Matthew Gilkes (37 off 35) and Rilee Rossouw (39 off 35) played well to steady the ship. However, they both fell in quick succession just as they were getting going. After that, it was madness. The likes of Alex Ross (25 off 12) and Daniel Sams (36 off 15) scored boundaries for fun and in the end, they took their side to a total of 182/6 in 20 overs.

The chase got off to a rocky start for the Heat, who lost Max Bryant and Matt Renshaw in the first few overs. While Munro was doing most of the scoring, he didn’t have much support at the other end. Sam Billings, Jimmy Peirson, and Ross Whiteley were all dismissed for single-digit scores. Nevertheless, Munro controlled his innings well and hit a flawless 98. However, it was all for naught as no other batter was able to stay with him and get the Heat over the line. The Heat fell short of 11 runs.
