Virat Kohli seemed to be in red-hot form after hitting 2 centuries in 3 matches against Sri Lanka. However, he failed to carry the same momentum in the NZ series as he got dismissed in both the innings without scoring big.
Sharing his views ahead of the 3rd ODI between India and New Zealand, former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer extended his support to the ‘Run Machine’, who he believes will return to scoring ways in the 3rd ODI.
Australia is set to tour India for the very important Border-Gavaskar Trophy starting from 9 February for which Jaffer feels that Virat Kohli has to regain his form back.
“Virat Kohli must be disappointed by his dismissals in this series. He has been struggling to play leg-spin for quite a while now whether it be Adil Rashid or Adam Zampa, and now he has gone out to left-arm spin of Mitchell Santner two matches in a row,” Jaffer told ESPNcricinfo.
“I expect Kohli to make a good comeback in the third ODI keeping the big picture in mind. Australia are touring soon and they have a solid bowling unit with Nathan Lyon also there. So, the expectation is always there from him to score runs and do well,” Jaffer added.
All eyes will be on Kohli when he will come out to bat in the 3rd ODI as this will be his last ODI match before the Red-Ball series.
