WPL 2023: Unstoppable Harman and Co. Register 5th Consecutive Victory in Women’s Premier League

Aakash Chopra criticizes Gujarat Giants for dropping Laura Wolvaardt after loss against Mumbai Indians

The Mumbai Indians (MI) have created a winning culture that seems almost unbeatable in the 2023 Women’s Premier League (WPL). Former Indian cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra has hailed the team for their fifth consecutive victory, beating the Gujarat Giants by a whopping 55 runs in a dominating display.

Chopra was quick to recognize MI’s superiority over other teams, stating that they even win despite losing the toss, a testament to their determination and resilience. He also praised the leadership of Harmanpreet Kaur, who leads her team by example and instills a winning mentality in them.

Drawing a historical parallel, Chopra likened the team’s winning streak to the release of the Ashvamedha horse, symbolizing their complete dominance in the tournament. MI has already secured their place in the knockout stages, but Chopra believes they will be gunning for a top-of-the-table finish for a direct entry into the final.

On the other hand, Chopra criticized the Gujarat Giants for their questionable team selection. He questioned the decision to drop Laura Wolvaardt after just one game and playing Annabel Sutherland ahead of Georgia Wareham in a pitch favoring spinners.

MI’s win was made even sweeter as they inflicted a golden duck on Sophia Dunkley, the player of the match from the last game, and kept Sutherland wicketless while conceding 42 runs in her four overs.

All in all, MI’s winning spree seems unstoppable, and it remains to be seen if any team can catch the Ashvamedha horse and bring an end to their dominance in the WPL 2023.
