Amidst his participation in the WTC final against Australia, former India captain Virat Kohli found himself at the receiving end of heavy trolling following his quick dismissal in the first innings and a subsequent viral dressing room picture.
Australia set a target of 469 runs in their first innings, while India struggled at 151 for 5 at the end of day two.
The failure of the top-order batsmen, including Kohli, drew criticism for their inability to contribute significantly. However, it was a circulated image of Kohli sharing a light moment and having a meal with teammates that became the topic of discussion.

Virat Kohli took to Instagram to share a post after being trolled on social media for his poor performance with the bat in a crucial Test match. In response, Kohli posted a cryptic story on Instagram, hitting back at the trolls. The post read, “You must develop the ability to be disliked in order to free yourself from the prison of other people’s opinions.”
Despite his disappointing innings, Kohli remains the highest scorer for India in ICC finals, having amassed 231 runs in seven matches. Virat Kohli failed to deliver with the bat during India’s first innings on Day 2 of the Test match on Thursday, June 8.
Virat Kohli managed to score 14 runs off 31 deliveries before being dismissed by Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc. Kohli displayed solidity and controlled shot selection throughout his innings. However, he was taken by surprise by an extra bounce, resulting in an edge that was caught by Steve Smith.

Prior to the final match, the Delhi-born cricketer showcased an impressive performance in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL). He finished as the sixth-highest run-scorer in the tournament, accumulating 639 runs at an average of 53.25 and a strike rate of 139.82. Kohli achieved two centuries and six half-centuries during IPL 2023.
