IND vs AUS 2023 3rd ODI: 5 Changes in India Squad, Rohit Sharma & Ishan Kishan to Open, Shubman Gill rested

In the last ODI, Shubman Gill will be given a rest, while Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be in action.

The Indian cricket team is in exceptional form as they prepare for the ICC World Cup 2023, with every player delivering their best performances. The noteworthy aspect of India’s outstanding form is that both their batting and bowling units are in excellent condition. Their impressive victory over Australia in the second ODI, even without prominent players such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah in the playing XI, showcased a remarkable collective effort. Shubman Gill has been byfar the player of the series so far with total of 178 runs in just 2 matches.

With the ODI World Cup 2023 just around the corner, there’s news that Shubman Gill and Shardul Thakur are set to sit out the final ODI match. Instead, they will be directly joining the team for the warm-up matches leading up to the World Cup.

India’s star players, including the likes of Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Virat Kohli, and Hardik Pandya, are poised to make a comeback in this final match. Axar Patel had been included in the squad for the third match of the three-game ODI series against Australia, contingent on his fitness.

Unfortunately, Axar hasn’t been able to recover from his injury in time and has consequently been ruled out of the third ODI. This setback is a significant blow to Axar’s chances of participating in the World Cup, given that all teams are required to announce their final squads by September 28th, just one day after India’s third ODI against Australia. It’s worth noting that India already holds an insurmountable 2-0 lead in the series. The third match in Rajkot will mark the final international encounter for both India and Australia before they face off again at the World Cup on October 8th.
