The former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir is again in the news for a statement. This time around, he has said that Arshdeep Singh should play the 3rd ODI against Sri Lanka instead of Mohammad Shami. The comment has enraged the fans of Shami, but Gambhir has cited his own reasons about why he wants it done in the 3rd ODI.

Gautam Gambhir said, “Arshdeep Singh should replace Mohammad Shami in the final ODI. Shami has to bowl tough overs in the BGT, so give him some rest.” According to the former Indian cricketer, India should give rest to Shami as they are due to play against Australia in a crucial Test series which will begin in February 2023.

Also, India has the luxury of resting their senior players in the 3rd ODI and giving chances to the benched players, as India has already won the series by winning the first two matches. The second ODI was saved by the brilliance of Kuldeep Yadav, who returned to white-ball cricket after a pretty long time.
