IND VS AUS BGT 2024: Nitish Reddy & Washingtion Sundar Ultimate Comeback | Watch Twitter Reactions

Facing a daunting 474-run deficit and a precarious 191/6, India appeared to be teetering on the brink of disaster in the Boxing Day Test. However, young Nitish Reddy emerged as an unlikely hero, displaying exceptional composure and skill to steer the visitors away from the abyss.

With the Australian bowlers breathing down their necks and the pressure mounting, Reddy, joined by Ravindra Jadeja, initially struggled to find his footing. However, as the innings progressed, he gradually seized control, capitalizing on favorable batting conditions.

Reddy’s approach was a masterclass in patience and discipline. He expertly navigated the short-pitched deliveries, avoided straying outside off-stump, and diligently rotated the strike, putting the Australian bowlers under increasing pressure.

His maiden Test century, achieved at the hallowed Melbourne Cricket Ground, was a testament to his burgeoning talent. While support from the other end was scarce throughout the series, Washington Sundar provided crucial backing in this innings, enabling Reddy to reach the milestone.

The 127-run partnership between Reddy and Sundar proved to be a lifeline for India, not only rescuing them from the ignominy of the follow-on but also injecting much-needed hope into their campaign.

Reddy’s century, punctuated by a powerful boundary, was a moment of immense pride. His father, witnessing the feat from the stands, was overcome with emotion, while the young batsman celebrated with a heartfelt gesture, kneeling down and placing his helmet on his bat with his other hand raised towards the heavens.

Nitish Reddy’s performance in Melbourne served as a reminder of his immense potential and a beacon of hope for Indian cricket.
