IPL 2022, RR VS RCB: Rajasthan wins the low-scoring game

RR vs RCB, the 39th match of Tata IPL 2022, saw Rajasthan Royals registering their first win against Royal Challengers Bangalore after five games in IPL.

RR vs RCB Highlights:

Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to bowl first. He said there might be something on the bowlers upfront in this pitch that his team would like to exploit. RCB changed its playing XI by bringing in Rajat Patidar in place of Anuj Rawat and slotting Virat Kohli at the top with Faf du Plessis.

Playing XIs:

RCB: Faf du Plessis (c), Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, Suyash Prabhudessai, Rajat Patidar, Shahbaz Ahmed, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Wanindu Hasaranga, Harshal Patel, Josh Hazlewood, Mohammed Siraj

RR: Jos Buttler, Devdutt Padikkal, Sanju Samson (c & wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, Daryl Mitchell, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Kuldeep Sen, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal

RR Inning:

RCB struck early with Mohammed Siraj removing Ravi Ashwin and Devudtt Padikkal during the powerplay. Josh Hazelwood dismissed Jos Buttler to send shivers in the RR camp.

However, Sanju Samson came out with positive intent and played some incredible shots. But yet again, Samson failed to convert his score into a big impactful inning. On the other end, Daryl Mitchell kept struggling to time the ball.

Samson scored 27 off 21 before Hasaranga dismissed him. RR was 68/4 in about 10 overs and needed some consolidation in the middle. Riyan Parag then combined with Daryl Mitchell to form a short partnership before Mitchell ultimately threw his wicket away.

Shimron Hetmyer, too, failed to make an impression in the game and could only manage 3 runs. Nevertheless, Parag continued on his own to pose a respectable total for RR. His 56 off 31 helped RR set a fighting total of 144/8 in 20 overs.

RCB Inning:

Virat Kohli came out to open the inning with Faf, but his bad luck continued as he could only score 9 runs in the game. Rajat Patidar, included in the game by RCB, showed no promise in his 16 run inning. Faf du Plessis was the only batter to cross the 20 run mark for RCB. He scored 23 off 21.

Glenn Maxwell suffered a golden duck, and the rest of the RCB batters could not pose any threat to RR. In the end, RCB fell short by 29 runs to concede its 4th loss of the tournament.
