Match Fixing in Abu Dhabi T10 League: No Ball by Indian Player Causes Uproar

While scrutiny mounted on Mithun post-game, no official statements have emerged from cricket authorities regarding the incident.

In a recent face-off between Chennai Braves and Northern Warriors at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in the Abu Dhabi T10 League, Abhimanyu Mithun, a seasoned former India international, became the focal point of an unexpected controversy. While the match concluded with Chennai Braves clinching a hard-fought victory, an incident during the fifth over of the second innings drew parallels with Mohammad Amir’s infamous no-ball in 2010.

Chasing a target of 107 set by Northern Warriors, the Angelo Mathews-led Chennai Braves faced a challenging task. The game witnessed a dramatic shift when Sikander Raza’s explosive 10-ball innings of 27 runs altered the momentum. Despite Mithun’s notable contribution of 2-0-11-2, the real intrigue unfolded in the fifth over.

In an attempt to build on his early success, Mithun bowled a perfect yorker that dismissed Charith Asalanka. However, celebrations were short-lived as the umpire signaled a no-ball. Replays unveiled a surprising reality – Mithun had overstepped by an astonishing half a meter, drawing comparisons to Mohammad Amir’s notorious margin in 2010.

While scrutiny mounted on Mithun post-game, no official statements have emerged from cricket authorities regarding the incident. Nevertheless, the event quickly resonated across social media, with fans drawing parallels between Mithun’s no-ball and Amir’s historic mistake.

The incident triggered a social media storm, with users expressing disbelief at the nature of Mithun’s no-ball. Many drew comparisons between Mithun’s error and Mohammad Amir’s 2010 no-ball, intensifying discussions around the incident.

Beyond the controversy, it’s crucial to acknowledge Abhimanyu Mithun’s stature in Indian domestic cricket. Representing Karnataka in domestic cricket, Mithun has been a prominent figure, sharing dressing rooms with cricket legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and MS Dhoni. However, his recent no-ball has unexpectedly thrust him into the limelight.
