The Indian cricket team is on fire, and the latest ICC rankings are proof of their dominance. In the recently concluded ODI series against New Zealand, two players in particular stood out and have now risen to the top of the charts.
Mohammed Siraj, who took 24 wickets in 2022, has become the new world number one ODI bowler. The 28-year-old, who picked up 14 wickets in the last five matches, jumped two spots to go past Trent Boult and Australia seamer Josh Hazlewood to claim the top spot for the first time.
But Siraj isn’t the only one making waves. Shubman Gill, who scored a double hundred and a century in the first and third ODI, also equalled Babar Azam’s record for most runs in a three-match bilateral series (360) and has jumped two spots to surpass Virat Kohli and take the 6th rank. The 23-year-old has also become India’s best ODI batter.
Virat Kohli faced a small dip in the ranks and sits on 7th position while centurion Rohit Sharma jumped to 9th rank.
India also boasts Suryakumar Yadav as the #1 T20I batter and Ravindra Jadeja as the #1 Test all-rounder. To top it off, the Men in Blue are the top-ranked team in both T20Is and ODIs.
