PSL 2024: Ramiz Raza’s Shocking Statement “Would Have Banned Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis”

PSL 2024: Ramiz Raza’s Shocking Statement- Ramiz Raja has been making furious statements since his removal as the Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman. The PCB has even said that they could follow legal methods against Ramiz Raja if he continues to defame the cricket board in Pakistan. It seems Ramiz Raja is not concerned about that, as he made a shocking statement in which he talked about banning Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis.

Ramiz Raja talked about banning Wasim and Waqar due to the match-fixing allegation, which resulted in the removal of Wasim Akram from captaincy and a fine as a penalty. Waqar Younis was also part of that scandal and was fined. However, since then, Waqar Younis has been given two opportunities to coach the Pakistan national cricket team. It was Justice Qayyum’s report on match-fixing that found Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis guilty.

Ramiz Raja, the former chairman of PCB, was talking to the Pakistani TV channel Samaa TV when he said, “I think no one should have had the chance (of coming back to Pakistan cricket). If Wasim Akram’s name is in there, and he was censured for not cooperating, right? It was a borderline case. If I was the decision maker at the time, I would’ve banned them forever,” said the former PCB chairman.”

“You brought them back to system. I wasn’t in power at the time. We were told to play with them and work with them, and that was it. No one knew how to tackle that. So many people were involved in that. I don’t know what the compulsion was.”

Ramiz Raj then commented on Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Asif and Salman Butt, who were involved in the 2010 spot-fixing scandal. He said that he has zero tolerance for fixers in cricket. “I’m absolutely clear. People say they’ve had the punishment, move on. But I’ve experienced such situations,” said Ramiz Raja.
