A team which is always known by the name of big players like- Shane Watson, Anil Kumble, KL Rahul, Mitchell Starc and many more. However, one thing they have failed in over the years is to capitalize their star players for a long run rather than swapping them, merely after one bad season. Royal Challengers Bangalore is one such team who chose to retain only three players and no surprise these are Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammad Siraj.
Since AB de Villiers has already announced his retirement from all forms of cricket as a player, he is no more part of RCB. Royal Challengers Bangalore have already ticked the boxes of a star bowler{Mohammad Siraj}, a world class batter{Virat Kohli} and an excellent all rounder{Glenn Maxwell}. Here are other options they should go for, to emerge as a top contender of IPL 2022-
1. David Warner
After a controversial exit from Sunrisers Hyderabad, RCB be could be an ideal team for him. Since, the team is already looking for a great captain, after the stepping down of Virat Kohli from captaincy role. If they are able to lay their hands on him from the auction pool then he is the one who will fill both the roles of a captain and an astonishing opener to support Virat Kohli.
2. Jason Holder
An ex-West Indian all rounder and someone who is highly underrated. He has produced plethora of match winning performances with his bat and bowl for Sunrisers Hyderabad. A perfect combo of bat and ball will not be available at a cheap price tag to RCB.
3. Devdutt Padikkal
A fascinating star born in Royal Challengers Bangalore deserves to be back at home, after a successful IPL 2021 season and not many teams will be after him, thus he can be bought back without a hole in their purse.
4. Rahul Chahar
Will history repeat itself? As earlier too, star spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was transferred from Mumbai Indians to Bangalore and the same can happen again with Rahul Chahar. He will be a great asset to the team with his utter class and brilliance on the grounds of Bengaluru.
5. Shreyas Iyer
Under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, Delhi capitals reached the play-offs consecutively for two years in 2019 & 2020. A captain cum batsmen who is less aggressive and more tactical is the demand for the Bangalore team and he could ideally fit in either at 3 or 4 in the batting order as he has performed those role earlier at highest level.
6. Josh Hazlewood
RCB and Death Bowling problem can be used as synonyms for each other. A supreme choice to handle and support the death overs job with M. Siraj without any doubt. He has performed consistently fine with the bowl for Chennai Super Kings too, whenever he got the opportunity to be on field.
