India Wins the T20i Series by Defeating England by 49 Runs

Team India continued their dominance in the shortest format of the game by winning the 14th consecutive match under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. India defeated England by 49 runs to register a victory in the 2nd match of the T20i series. With this win, India has gained an unassailable lead against England in the series. Veteran Indian swing bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar was named player of the match for picking up wickets for just 15 runs in 3 overs. He also bowled a maiden over in the game.

Earlier at the toss, Jos Buttler had invited India to bat first. Rohit Sharma announced that India had made four changes to their playing eleven. Rishabh Pant, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah were brought back to the Indian side. Pant opened the inning for India with Rohit Sharma.

Pant and Rohit played fearlessly. The former scored 26 off 15 while the latter contributed 31 off 20. Both of them were dismissed by Richard Gleeson. Virat Kohli failed yet again and scored only 1 run in three balls. He, too, was sent back into the dressing room by Gleeson. Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya, the stars of the previous match, could not get going. Yadav scored 15 while Pandya made only 12 runs.

At one moment, India looked in deep trouble with 89-5 in the 10.5 overs. However, the all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was not fazed by the English bowlers. He played a crucial unbeaten knock of 46 off 29 to help India reach 170/8 in 20 overs.

Chasing 171, England must have fancied their chances of levelling the series, but their dismal batting display robbed them of the golden chance. Jason Roy was sent back for a golden duck while Jos Buttler could only score 4 off 5. Both of the opening batters were dismissed by Bhuvi. Moeen Ali was the only convincing batter for England. He scored 35 off 21. David Willey also played a good knock of 33* off 22. However, England lost the match by 49 runs in the end.
