Miller’s 100 Goes in Vain as India Takes Unparalleled Lead in the Series

David Miller blasted an unbeaten century in the 2nd T20 of the series against India, but his team ended up on the losing side. South Africa lost by 16 runs despite a huge 174 runs partnership between Miller and Quinton De Kock. India had posted a total of 237 runs on the board, with every batter firing in the match.

Here’s how the match panned out:

KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma opened with a positive mindset and played fantastic knocks to keep the run rate hovering around 10 per over. Rohit was dismissed on 43 off 27, while Rahul went on to score 57 quick runs in just 28 deliveries. Together the opening duo stitched a 96-run partnership for the first wicket.

This was followed by Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav’s blazing partnership for the third wicket. They scored 102 runs together before Surya was sent back due to runout. Surya scored 61 off 22, which included five fours and five sixes.

Kohli remained unbeaten on 49* off 28, while Dinesh Karthik helped India finish with a flourish by scoring 17* off 7. India finished with a big total of 237/4 in the 20 overs.

Chasing the steep target, the Proteas needed their top order to fire but unfortunately for them, Temba Bavuma and Rilee Rossouw both registered ducks. South Africa was losing their way in the chase with De Kock struggling to time the ball.

Aiden Markram tried to breathe life into the match by scoring a quick 33 off 19. However, it was David Miller who was the star of the night. He brought South Africa back into the game. Miller also started receiving support from De Kock as the left-handed opener had also started to get the hang of timing the ball.

Together they smashed every Indian bowler, but unfortunately, the target seemed too much for them. Miller remained unbeaten on 106* off 38, and De Kock remained not out on 69* off 48.
