MS Dhoni surprised everyone at the end of IPL 2023 when he revealed that he wished to play one more year in the Indian Premier League. He was retained in the auction, and it has been confirmed that he will captain CSK in IPL 2024.
CSK has tried a few times to find a successor for Dhoni, but they have failed so far. Ben Stokes was bought by CSK in the IPL 2023 Auction, but he was released before the start of IPl 2024, and this means that he is not being considered to replace Dhoni as the captain.
In the past, Ravindra Jadeja had been appointed as the captain, but that move failed miserably, and CSK crashed out of the tournament that year. Dhoni is still the mainstay of Chennai Super Kings, and it is going to be hard to replace him as the captain.

The young Indian opening batter, Ruturaj Gaikwad, could be the one to replace MS Dhoni as the captain of Chennai Super Kings. He has shown good acumen, and he has the benefit of young age on his side. Gaikwad could be groomed as the new captain in the upcoming season of IPL.
