India Women defeated England Women by 4 runs in the semi-final at CWG 2022 to qualify for the finals at Commonwealth Games 2022. The match was a pretty close encounter in which both the teams showed grit to hang on until the final over of the game.
England required 14 runs off the last over to win the game. However, they could only muster up 9 runs and found themselves being thrown out of the race for the gold medal at CWG 2022. Earlier in the day, India Women had won the toss and opted to bat first.
Smriti Mandhana was the star of the match. She blasted a quick-fire 61 runs off just 32 balls with the help of 8 fours and 3 sixes to help India put 164/5 on the scoreboard in 20 overs. Jemimah Rodriguez was also brilliant. She played an unbeaten knock of 44* runs off 31 balls.
